Oxford and Cambridge are often mentioned in one breath. The original University city, Oxford, is situated in the heart of England and is only 80 km away from London. "The Oxford University" consists of 42 different Colleges und Student hostels, that are situated in different parts of the city.
Oxford has a very lively culture scene with many restaurants, pubs, markets, cultural exhibitions and shows, and an extensive range of bookstores. In addition to this, it is well known for its concerts and theaters.
If you discover Oxford by foot, you will not regret it. The view over the roof tops from Carfax Tower, Sheldonian Theater or the Church tower of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Michael is fantastic. Visitors have many activities to choose from, starting from a variety of musical concerts, to the International Art Exhibitions, museums and Theaters. You can relax and enjoy the surroundings during a walk on the banks of the river, have a picnic, do a city tour, or another leisure time activity such as – punting!
