Ramsgate
Ramsgate
Ramsgate lies in the south east of England in the Shire of Kent. This region is also known as the 'Garten von England', and is famous for its apples and cherry plantations, the beautiful green fields and the lovely hilly landscapes. Ramsgate has approx. 40 000 inhabitants and has grown together with the neighbouring village Broadstairs (20 000 inhabitants). Together with the well known university city of Canterbury (25 km away) these two cities form the so called "Isle of Thannet". Ramsgate and Broadstairs are both very popular swimming regions in summer, with lovely sandy beaches. Ramsgate has a lovely port that is almost overflowing with sailing boats and yachts. The city on the coast is very picturesque, and has many historical buildings, as well as many shopping facilities. In the city and in the surrounding areas, you will find lots of sport activities to do.
In approx. 40 minutes you can reach Dover - and in approx. 2 hours (with the direct train) you can be at Victoria Station in London. The surrounding areas offer a variety of walk ways and trails for bike tours. In the summer months, Ramsgate is a lively swimming region. In the remaining months it is rather quiet. The entertainment facilities in Ramsgate alone are rather restricted, however within a circumference of 15 - 20 minutes with the bus, (incl. Margate and Canterbury) you will find many sport and entertainment facilities. To make sure you don't get bored, Churchill House provides an excellent programme for your leisure time.
